Sotto lo sguardo di Medusa: antefisse con gorgoneion a Mozia.

Abstract

This contribution is focused on the evidence of antefixes with gorgoneion found in Motya. In fact, although the iconography of the gorgoneion is not unusual in the Punic area, so much so that it is used in various craft categories, the discovery of architectural antefixes proposes the question of the type of roofing and building to which they belong. Although numerically reduced, the antefixes seem to confirm the existence of Greek-type buildings on the island, also underlining the strong connection with the nearby Selinunte.
