Abstract

In this session I discuss a Phoenician container from the Biggio Collection. The exceptional significance of the Biggio Collection jug comes from the uniqueness of the container, unparalleled in all Sardinian public and private collections and little known in the whole central Mediterranean area. The suggestion that it originated in Eastern workshops and a funerary environment sheds new light on the history of Sulcis and its international and island relationships.
