The excavation of a pit from the workshop area of Nora (Cagliari), used during the Hellenistic times, revealed several fragments of braziers and thymiateria, for a total of 3 types and 11 pieces. Their local or regional manufacturing has been confirmed by mineralogical and fabric analysis. In some cases, traces of burning lead to identify them as thymiateria whose cult function might be public or private. The study of findings from the pit in relation with the strong urbanization of Nora during the late Republic and the 1st century BC suggests a cult use connected with the so-called high place of Tanit.
