The group of Phoenician funerary stelae found in the necropolis of al-Bass, in Tyre, is the most numerous and impressive of the Levant. Systematic excavations since 1997 which have provided the evidence of their unequivocal allegiance to Iron Age cremation burials. The funerary record obtained through various archaeological campaigns not only allowed to rebuild its archaeological context, but also its social, ritual and ideological context.
